PLATING
RACKS

ARC engineers understand "rack talk". They know plating methods and requirements. ARC rack designs maximize plating quality while optimizing space utilization and loading/unloading efficiencies.

For most electroplating applications, racks are constructed of copper or steel. They are plastisol coated to protect the plating solutions from contamination and build-up.

Part spacing on the rack is critical to quality and productivity. Determining factors in proper spacing are part configuration, throwing power of the bath, and current density. Parts to be plated on one side can be placed back-to-back. Parts to be plated on all sides must be staggered. Other factors in determining spacing include loading/unloading time, amperage limitations, size of processing tanks, and part size.

For added versatility and economy in applications involving zinc, tin, cadmium, gold or silver, ARC can design multi-use frames with easily replaceable cross-bars that facilitate different parts. With this feature contacts can be changed quickly and efficiently without replacing the fixture frame.

Tips
A key element in plating quality is the tip - the contact point between the part and the rack where the most wear and stress occur. In addition to holding the part securely during the entire process, the tip must be properly sized to carry ample current and configured so there is no solution carry-over.

ARC engineers have designed hundreds of thousands of custom tips for products ranging from auto parts to zippers. An ARC tip is not only durable - it will not distort parts, cause shading, or leave marks.

Replace-A-Tip
Racks with permanently installed tips that are worn or broken result in lost productivity. This causes additional production cycles to make up for that lost productivity. The simple solution to this problem is ARC's Replace-A-Tip --- a tip that is quickly and easily removed and replaced in under 60 seconds. The result is little or no loss of production time or the complete loss of the rack while sending it out for repair. Replace-A-Tip is available for most processes.

ARC can design the Replace-A-Tip feature into a new rack or rebuild an existing rack (manufactured by ARC or others) with this feature. There is no easier, faster or cost-effective way to maintain 100% rack productivity.

BASKETS

ARC designs and manufactures custom baskets in any required size or configuration. Typical applications include anodizing, drying, dipping, heat treating, batch plating, degreasing and material handling.

To meet your specific requirements, ARC inventories an extensive range of bar, rod, mesh, expanded and perforated in a wide range of materials including steel, titanium, inconel, aluminum and stainless steel.

ANODIZING
RACKS

Because of its excellent resistance to, and long life in, sulfuric, nitric and chromic acids, titanium is the preferred material for most anodizing racks. Tips can be constructed in either titanium or aluminum. ARC can design your custom rack for maximum part capacity and handling efficiencies.

POWDER
AND PAINT
RACKS

ARC designed Powder and Paint Racks maximize painting quality, hold the maximum number of parts within the available part envelope and facilitate efficient part loading/unloading.

The type of painting system in which the rack is to be utilized (powder coating, electrostatic, spray, Ecoat, flow coating or dip) is the primary factor in the rack design. Other factors include the part holding method, conveyor type, furnace temperatures, and part weight.

Part holding or tip design is critical to quality paint application. With our extensive experience in tip design and thorough understanding of the various painting methods, ARC will design a tip that is perfectly suited for your part and application. Because ARC tips are manufactured from spring tempered stainless steel, they maintain tension and stand up to repeated Burn-off cycles.

PLASTISOL
COATINGS

Plastisol coating provides protection for metals used in corrosive or high-temperature environments, cushioning, rust protection, color-coding options and an aesthetic covering for unfinished metals.

Proper surface preparation is critical in achieving a quality coating application. ARC thoroughly sandblasts the surface before priming the surface with a bonding agent and applying the coating.

In addition to plastisol, ARC can also coat in PVC, nylon, Teflon, and halar materials. Any size or shape can be coated in various thickness and colors.

PRINTED CIRCUIT
RACKS & FIXTURES

As the nation's premier designer and manufacturer of custom printed circuit processing racks and fixtures, ARC has consistently responded to the industry's ever-changing requirements. Whatever the process - gold, copper, solder, or etching - for panel, pattern or flex board processing, ARC will design and build a fixture to meet your exact requirements.

Most racks are manufactured from copper and stainless steel. They are plastisol coated, protecting the plating solution from contamination and the rack from deterioration and build-up.

ARC is the only manufacturer which uses single piece metal castings for contact tips. These high-strength castings, made from 316 series stainless steel, provide more reliable performance and a longer service life. That translates into less rack downtime and more productivity.

FIXTURE REBUILDING

When a fixture is damaged, broken or has reached the end of its service life, it still has value. ARC can rebuild that fixture to a like-new condition. The end result is a fixture equal in quality and performance to a new one - at a significant cost-savings. ARC rebuilds fixtures built by us or others. Contact us for a quote and a speedy turn-around commitment.

Heating &
Cooling Coils
Titanium coils provide a long, trouble free life in the environments of the metal finishing and chemical processing industries. In addition to its excellent corrosion resistance, titanium is a superior medium for heat transfer. Its excellent strength-to-weight ratio results in lightweight coils which makes installation and maintenance easier.

ARC can fabricate titanium coils to meet your exact requirements. Our innovative fabrication process provides stronger, leak-free joints which contribute safer performance and a longer service life. Additional materials are available for other corrosive environments. You will be please to know that we can also rebuild coils.
